Cancellation policy:

Customers may cancel for any reason up to 48 hours before the start of their rental and receive a full refund of all payments made.

Cancellations made within 48 hours of the rental start time are non-refundable.

For added flexibility, optional Trip Protection is available for purchase during checkout. Guests who purchase Trip Protection may cancel or reschedule their rental for any reason up until the scheduled start time and receive a full refund of their rental, less the cost of the Trip Protection and any applicable payment processing fees.

If Blue Heron Boats determines that weather conditions are unsafe for boating before the start of your rental, we will first attempt to reschedule your booking. If rescheduling is not possible, you will receive a full refund.

Once your rental has begun and you have left the dock, no refunds will be issued due to changing weather conditions, including rain.

No-call, no-shows will result in the forfeiture of the entire rental fee.

We understand that you want to fit everything into your vacation & that weather doesn’t always work in your favor. You should know that boat and jet ski rentals are popular during peak season on the lake, so we encourage you to book as early as possible. If inclement weather hits, you will be given priority for rescheduling to ensure you don’t miss out on the fun.

Pontoons

You must be 18 years old with a valid driver’s license to rent our pontoons.

On all of our pontoon rentals, you are responsible for captaining your own boat.

Yes! Our pontoon boats come with an anchor that allows you to stop and enjoy a peaceful spot on the water, whether you’re fishing, swimming, or just relaxing.

Yes, a $500 security deposit hold is required per vessel unless you purchase our optional Damage Protection during checkout.

Guests who purchase Damage Protection are not required to provide a security deposit. If Damage Protection is declined, a refundable $500 security deposit hold per vessel will be placed on the card on file prior to your rental. The hold is released after the equipment is returned and inspected, provided no damage or other charges are incurred.

It’s important to return the boat on time to avoid additional fees.

Late returns will be charged at a rate of Ten Dollars ($10.00) for every five (5) minutes beyond the scheduled return time. If the vessel is returned more than sixty (60) minutes late, RENTER forfeits the entire security deposit in addition to applicable late fees.

Late fees may be waived solely at the discretion of BLUE HERON BOATS due to severe weather or mechanical failure not caused by RENTER.

Yes, you may bring your own fishing poles onboard the boat and fish at no additional charge! Please note that we do not provide fishing poles or licenses. To ensure a great experience for everyone, please remember to clean up after yourselves. Kindly dispose of any trash, fishing lines, bait containers, and other items properly before you return the boat. Keeping the boat clean helps us maintain it in top condition and ensures that everyone enjoys a fresh, clean space on the water. If the boat is left extremely dirty, additional cleaning costs will apply.

Yes! Well-behaved dogs are welcome on our boats with the purchase of our Bring Your Pet add-on during checkout.

  • Maximum of 2 dogs per boat.
  • Each dog must weigh 100 pounds or less.
  • Your dog’s nails will be inspected at check-in to help prevent damage to the upholstery. If their nails are excessively sharp, we may ask that nail caps be applied or that the pet not board.
  • Pet owners are responsible for any damage caused by their pet, including scratches, tears, stains, or excessive cleaning.

Please clean up after your pet and keep them under your control at all times so everyone can enjoy a safe and enjoyable day on the water.

Yes, all of our boats are equipped with either a USB or a 12-volt auxiliary power outlet (cigarette lighter) for charging your device.

All of our boats are fully equipped with USCG safety equipment, retractable Bimini tops, anchors, swim ladders, and plenty of storage under the seats. Our boats have a Garmin GPS of the area, so no getting lost! We also provide helpful tips to make your day on the water as carefree as possible.

No. We will supply life vests for everyone, including children and infants. North Carolina law requires anyone younger than 13 to wear an appropriate life vest when on a recreational vessel that is underway.

No. Fuel is not included in the rental price.

At the end of your rental, we will refuel the boat and charge you only for the fuel used. The fuel charge, plus any applicable credit card processing fees, will be charged to the card on file. If you did not purchase Damage Protection, the fuel charge may be deducted from your security deposit before the remaining balance is released.

If you would like to avoid the credit card processing fees, simply let us know at the end of your rental and you may pay the fuel charge via Venmo or Zelle instead.

If the boat is damaged during your rental, please notify us immediately so we can assess the situation and help determine the safest course of action.

If you purchased Damage Protection during checkout, covered accidental damage is protected up to the coverage limit outlined in your rental agreement. Damage Protection is not unlimited coverage. If the cost of repairs, replacement, or other covered losses exceeds the coverage limit, you may be responsible for any remaining balance. Damage Protection also does not cover intentional damage, reckless or negligent operation, violations of the rental agreement, theft, loss of equipment, or damage resulting from prohibited activities.

If you declined Damage Protection, you are financially responsible for the full cost of repairs, replacement of damaged or missing equipment, loss of use while the boat is out of service, towing or recovery expenses (if applicable), and any other charges outlined in the rental agreement. Your security deposit will be applied toward these costs, but you may be responsible for additional amounts if the damage exceeds the deposit.

Our goal is to be fair and transparent. We understand that accidents can happen, and we’ll work with you throughout the claims process.

Unfortunately, due to insurance purposes, our boats are not allowed out after dark.

Yes! All boats are equipped with a Bluetooth radio & speakers for you to connect your iPhone or Bluetooth device and enjoy music all day long!

Jet Skis

You must be 18 years old with a valid driver’s license to rent and drive our jet skis. Passengers must be 6 years or older to ride.

No prior experience is necessary. We’ll give you a quick safety briefing and instructions on how to operate the jet ski before you head out on the water. We’re here to make sure you feel comfortable and confident.

Our jet skis can hit up to 65 mph, depending on the weather, waves, and weight load on the machine. Of course, you don’t have to go that fast. One of the best parts about jet skis is that you can accelerate depending on your comfort levels.

Yes, life jackets are required by law and provided by us. We will ensure that everyone on board has one that fits properly before you head out.

Jet skis are typically safe to ride in good weather conditions. We may cancel or reschedule your rental if there are strong winds, heavy rain, or thunderstorms for safety reasons. Always check the weather forecast before you arrive.

Yes, there is a combined weight limit of 530 lbs. per jet ski. We reserve the right to make judgment calls based on passenger weight.

Wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting wet. We recommend swimwear, neoprene shorts, water shoes, and sunscreen. You can also bring sunglasses, but make sure they’re secured with a strap.

Lake House Rental

Yes it is.

We try to accommodate guests’ requests as our calendar allows. Please contact us directly to request early check-in/late check-out.

The lake is swimmable. Feel free to bring your own boat, and please let us know prior to arrival so we can ensure the slip is open for your vessel.

Pots and pans, dinnerware, silverware and utensils, toaster, blender, grilling supplies, oil, salt and pepper, coffee (grounds & K-cups) and tea.

The property is located about 15-20 minutes from larger chain grocery stores and restaurants. There are a few local Mom and Pop stores/restaurants within 5-10 minutes from the house for last minute items.
